Swimming, drying the ears, and how to avoid hot spots after summer swims.
Golden Retrievers love water, and their first encounter with the lake is worth planning. The best time is on a warm day and on a shallow, sandy shore.
First entry
Enter the water first and call your puppy. A calm adult dog in the water nearby is the best encouragement.
After bathing
Dry the ears with a towel and comb the coat down to the skin. Moisture trapped under the dense undercoat is the most common cause of hot spots in summer.
