A puppy's first week in its new home

The first few days in a new home are full of new smells, sounds, and people for a puppy. A relaxed schedule for this week helps your little one feel at home more quickly.

Before pickup

Prepare a bed in a spot where family members spend most of their time, but away from drafts. A playpen or kennel provides your puppy with a safe haven to which he or she will gladly return.

• two bowls, preferably heavy, ceramic
• the food the puppy ate at our place for at least two weeks
• leash, collar and pendant with phone number
• rubber teethers and a few soft toys

First night

Place a bed by the bed. The blanket you'll receive from us smells of mom and siblings and helps with sleep. During the night, take your puppy out onto the grass once or twice, calmly and without play.

We call each family on the third day. The questions are usually the same: sleep, biting, and cleanliness.

First week

Guests can wait until week two. Short trips to the garden, plenty of sleep, and consistent mealtimes build a daily rhythm that will support your future learning.
